Aloha Fellow Homeschoolers,

How have you and your ohana (family) been? Iʻm pretty sure itʻs safe to say we are all at various stages in our homeschooling journey. Some of us have a plan of action, while others may still be on the fence about which curriculum, style, or routine will work for them.

When it comes to the various ways keiki (children) are being “homeschooled” during this time of uncertainty our ohana could be compared to a buffet. We currently have one in a private school, one in public school, and one in normal (a.k.a. regular) homeschool.

This year however, for our “normal” homeschooler we have decided to further her journey into online learning platforms by way of the VIRTUA EDUCATION site. Iʻm SOOOO thankful to have this abundant resource right now, especially due to the current shifts in our familyʻs rhythm. If you are curious, CLICK HERE to take a look at all the various resources that Homeschool Buyerʻs Co-op has to offer.

The New Homeschool Year…

Now letʻs get a run down of the craziness that has become our life. If, however, you have not already experienced this phenomena for yourselves, I envy you; in the best way, of course. Speaking about craziness check out my post on how weʻve dealt with other disruptions in our homeschool.

Transitioning my 9th grader to public school (her choice by the way) has been a huge challenge. She is required to spend hours staring at her computer screen everyday, leaving very little if any time for her piano practice and reading, of actual books. The disruption of her love of playing piano and reading has caused a negative shift in her emotional and mental health. Hence, leading to stress and frustration that she has never experienced before.

The stress and frustration unfortunately does not stop there. Throw in un-responsive teachers, several different online learning platforms, and confusing instructions and sheʻs calling for, take a guess. Yup, “Mama”! Enter Mama, stage laundry room to the rescue, or so I hope.

Thankfully, we have been in the swing of homeschooling and were prepared to have our keiki at home with me 24/7. I did however need additional support to insure my “normal” homeschooler (that sound so weird…LOL!) didnʻt slip through the cracks.

21st Century Learning At itʻs Best…

VIRTUA EDUCATION is a wonderful online learning platform that has helped us continue my daughterʻs homeschool education without any hiccups. With VIRTUA EDUCATION I am able to track and assign various subjects or lessons from my parent platform and easily see my daughterʻs progress. However, you can also view their progress right from their student platform as well.

The platform has also proven to be very user-friendly for my 10 yr. old who by the way has become quite an independent learner because of it. I think the feature of allowing the student(s) to also see their progress is a great way to reinforce their independence and accountability for their education.

In all honesty I only used the parent platform to assign her some higher-level science classes as she has been breezing through her age level assignments. However, if I decide I want to customize my daughterʻs lessons further I always have that option.

My favorite feature I must share tho is the “Recommended Path” feature. Thanks to VIRTUA EDUCATIONʻS brilliant software which uses A.I. ( Artificial Intelligence ). Your keiki (child/children) is given the benefit of an educational curriculum that is truly tailor made for them.

The Real Deal…

Now that youʻve read all of that, I just want to do a quick comparison to what we are experiencing with my 9th grader (public school, online), 11th grader (private school, online), and our newest VIRTUA EDUCATION Homeschooler.

Charting it all out for myself made it clear as day on how fortunate we are to have access to a wonderful online teaching resource.
